Raylene "Ray" Corless
Open face, quick eyes, wiry. Utility wear & tech. Usually wears cargos, a tank and steel-toed boots, and keeps her hair back most of the time.
Things Speak— whenever you handle or examine something interesting, roll + weird. On a hit, you can ask the MC questions. On a 10+, ask 3. On a 7-9, ask 1:
Who handled this last before me?
Who made this?
What strong emotions have been most recently nearby this?
What words have been said most recently nearby this?
What has been done most recently with this or to this?
What’s wrong with this, and how might I fix it?
Treat a miss as though you’ve opened your brain to the world’s psychic maelstrom and missed the roll.
Reality’s Fraying Edge— some component of your workspace, or some arrangement of components, is uniquely receptive to the world’s psychic maelstrom (+ augury). Choose and name it, or else leave it for the MC to reveal during play.
Workspace: The Yard
Over near the train tracks there’s a scrapyard. It’s full of what some people call trash, broken parts and castoff junk— but they miss the potential, you know? We’re all broken parts and castoff junk. It’s what you make of it that’s important. My garage is at the back. Used to be Pop’s, but Pop’s been in the dirt for a while now.
Oh, at the end of the workbench? Yeah. I cobbled that thing together from bits and pieces years ago. It mostly picks up static, but I swear sometimes when I’m out in the yard it catches some station or other. (The Radio has picked up the word Iä.)
The Water Truck: what it sounds like. I’m trying to rig a tank on the back of a truck, see if I can get it watertight. It’ll be faster than a regular horse-driven water run if I can get it working.
The Compactor: (next project to be added)
